Innovation Project: Weekly Blogging Guidelines

The purpose of your weekly blog is for you to reflect on your Innovation project, to keep an ongoing journal of your experience, and to allow your readers to follow along on your journey. You weekly posts should be a minimum of 200 words and can incorporate video and images to go along with your writing.

Your 1st blog entry should answer the following questions:

1.  What question/ topic have you decided to focus on for your innovation project?

2.  Why is this topic important to you?

3.  What goals have you set for this project? ( ie: complete all tasks on time, learn as much about my topic, learn to write in complete sentences, become more comfortable presenting in front of groups, create a product that many will benefit from, ect..)

4. How will you measure your successes in this project?

All remaining blogs should answer the following questions:

1. What have you learned about your topic this week?

2. What were some of the high and low points you experienced while working on your project this week?

3. Have you met any of your goals this week?

4. What have you learned about yourself this week?

5. Where do you go from here? What is your “game plan” for next week.

Blogging Rubric

	Novice	Accomplished	Distinguished
Reflective Thinker	This blog attempts to demonstrate thinking about learning but is vague and/or unclear about the personal learning process.	The blog explains the student’s thinking about his/her own learning processes.	The blog explains the student’s own thinking and learning processes, as well as implications for future learning.
Analysis	The blog does not love beyond a description of the learning experience	The blog attempts to analyze the learning experience but the value of learning to the student or others is vague and/or unclear.	The blog is an analysis of the learning experience and the value of the derived learning to self or others.
Making Connections	The blog does not articulate an connection to other learning or experiences.	The blog attempts to articulate connections between this learning experience and content from other courses, past learning experiences, or personal goals, but the connection is vague and/or unclear.	The blog articulates connections between this learning experience and content from other courses, past learning experiences, and/or future goals.
Moving Forward	The blog does not include an action plan.	The blog includes steps to move forward in the project, but the steps are too broad and/or the due dates are unrealistic.	The blog includes specific and detailed steps for moving ahead in the project. Realistic due dates are included.
Completeness	What, we had to blog twice this week?	Two or more blogs were completed after their due dates.	All blog posts are time-stamped on or before their due date.
